The Tuition Exchange Staff
The Tuition Exchange's goal is to help provide access to scholarships for higher education faculty and staff dependents. The mission is to promote higher education opportunities and assist in recruiting and retaining quality faculty, staff, and students. Our experienced staff coordinates the scholarship program for over 8500 applicants annually at more than 700 participating member institutions.
The TE team assists TE Liaison Officers (TELOs) with procedures and questions, directs students and families to the correct TELO, monitors exchange transactions, and recruits new members. TE Central provides training to ensure that TELOs at our member schools have the tools and knowledge to use all TE services efficiently and effectively.
Kristin R. Tichenor is President of Tuition Exchange following a distinguished career in enrollment management. She was the Senior Vice President at Wentworth Institute of Technology after serving as Vice President for enrollment management for several years. Before that, Kristin spent 20 years at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, eventually serving as Senior Vice President for Enrollment and Institutional Strategy for nine years and as Senior Advisor to the President during her final year. She is a graduate of Carleton College and received her Master of Arts degree in Education/Public Administration from Clark University. Kristin also earned her Doctor of Education (EdD) in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania.
Janet K. Hanson is the Director of Communications of Tuition Exchange. She served two colleges as its TELO for over 18 years, most recently at Doane College, Crete, Nebraska. Janet has over 45 years of experience in higher education administration, including ten years at Tuition Exchange. Her primary responsibility with Tuition Exchange is Member Services, and she serves as the project manager for the upcoming new administrative computer system scheduled to launch in early summer. Janet graduated from Emporia State University in Kansas; she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Library Science from Kansas State University and a Master of Science in Education Administration, including Principal and Superintendent's certifications. Janet also earned her Doctor of Education (EdD) in Higher Education Administration and Leadership at the American College of Education.
Kristine Murphy Lev is the Director of Administration for the Tuition Exchange. Kristine is responsible for the accounting and financial activities of Tuition Exchange. Kristine earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Villanova University, Villanova, PA, and her Master of Public Administration is from New York University, New York, NY. Before joining Tuition Exchange in 2004, Kristine spent 12 years in healthcare administration.
Suzanne M. LeAnce is the Assistant Director of Communications of Tuition Exchange. She is responsible for Member Services, emphasizing TELO management and training. Before joining TE, Suzanne worked at the University of Southern California (USC) in Benefits Administration for 12 years and as their TELO for seven years. During her tenure at TELO, Suzanne advocated for numerous TE system updates at USC, including moving their program to use the TE-EZ Online application. Suzanne graduated from USC with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.
Robert "Bob" D. Shorb is retiring from Tuition Exchange after serving as its Chief Executive Officer since 2009. He will serve in consulting roles through June 2024. To many, Bob is known as Mr.Tuition Exchange. He served two member schools as the Tuition Exchange Liaison Officer, most recently at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY. Bob has over 43 years of experience in higher education, including 15 years at Tuition Exchange. Bob earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Mansfield State University of Pennsylvania, Mansfield, PA, and his Master of Education from Alfred University, Alfred, NY.
