Export and Import School Processes

Export School

The Export school is where the employee* works as verified by the employer school. Each export school determines export eligibility criteria published in the employee handbook, faculty handbook, or intranet. Contact the Human Resources office for additional information. Each member school determines the definition of eligible employee and eligible dependent. As a guiding principle, most schools follow the Free Application for Federal Student Aid dependent definition. Refer to the FAFSA guidelines by clicking here.

You will deal with your Export School and Export TE Liaison Officer for all questions before and during the application process. This includes questions about Export eligibility, the process, and deciding on a school destination.

The employee requirement* is to maintain continuous eligibility for purposes of Export renewal. When an employee leaves his position with the TE member school during the academic year, the TE scholarship is canceled effective with the end of the current semester. When leaving over a winter break or summer, the scholarship typically stops at the end of the most recently completed academic term.

Import School

The Import school is where the student enrolls. Students often apply to several import schools. The TE-EZ app allows for 10 applications. In order to be considered for a Tuition Exchange Scholarship, the student must apply and be accepted for admission. The admission process should be done before or simultaneously with completing the TE-EZ app. Some Import schools require students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, be sure to communicate with your Admission Counselor to ensure you might all the application requirements.

TE scholarships generally include academic and social deportment requirements. Requirements are published in the student handbook or college catalog. It is the student's responsibility to read, understand, and adhere to Import expectations.

You will contact the Tuition Exchange Liaison Officer at the school the student had chosen to attend when you have questions about their scholarship maintenance requirements and any other issues, such as campus living expectations, enrollment status requirements, and if a transfer student, the maximum number of eligible TE scholarship semesters.
