January 2016 TE Newsletter

Happy 2016 TELO Colleagues

Please take a few minutes to read each of the reminders below.

  1.  Ten days after second semester begins please review your Annual Report.
    1. Confirm that all listed are still eligible
    2. If a student is no longer eligible see attached snippet Editing a student record...
    3. If you need to add a student for second semester see attached snippet Adding approved exports to...
  2. Once you confirm that your Annual Report is correct print a copy for your records
  3. Review your Balance Sheet and print a copy for your records
  4. And finally look one more time at your Participation Fees statement.  If you added a second semester student that means a new $35 participation fee
  5. All 2015-16 student details listed in the View Applicants and View Submission sections will be eliminated on January 25.
  6. Many of you have not yet reviewed and updated your Overview and/or institutional profile.  I asked earlier this year that each take a few minutes to add the name and email address of your President, Human Resource Director, Admissions Director and Financial Aid Director.  This is NOT information that will be used for marketing or shared.  It costs money to buy mailing lists, with your help, we are able to keep our costs down – which means your dues stay low.  Thank you!!!
  7. Training coming to a location near or maybe not so near to you this spring.
    1. Denver, CO February 19 in the Denver Airport area.  Free airport shuttle and reasonable hotel costs.  To register please CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS
    2. Dallas/Ft Worth, TX March 18 airport area.  Free airport shuttle and reasonable hotel costs.  To register please CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS
    3. TE Central understands that training is not always something that you have the funds to attend.  I am continually looking for ways to make it more cost effective.  The challenge with that is it means electronic.  When you are at your desk, there are continual distractions and interruptions, an hour online is great but six hours online is difficult.

Our Baltimore in-person training was great. All 20 of us, including me, walked away with new ideas, several ah ha moments and best of all, new contacts. Please consider joining one of these in person training options in the near future.

For the 2016-17 academic year, we will offer three in-person options one in the northeast, south and far western region of the USA.

  1. The TE Board of Directors meets this month.  On the docket for consideration is the 2017-18 Set Rate and a big boost to our budget line item in Technology.
  2. Thank you for completing the Membership Survey.  A recap of the 210 responses is available inside the TELO Only Resources section of our website.  You may also CLICK HERE TO access the executive summary.  Many shared the inability to access the TELO Only Resource section – see attached snippet Logging into the TELO ONLY...Logging into the TELO ONLY…
  3. As part of completing the Membership Survey, you had the opportunity to enter your name for a training voucher.  That name has been drawn and an email sent to the winning random number.  Stay tuned for that announcement, once the individual confirms the ability to attend either the Denver or Dallas training.  Again, thank you for completing the survey.

I hope that each of you took time to enjoy the December break.  I certainly appreciated the time away from technology and hope each of you did as well.  Take care and if you get stuck along the way, never hesitate to contact me.
